The Guwahati–Tezpur corridor marks another major step towards strengthening Assam’s road infrastructure and enhancing the Northeast’s connectivity with broader regional markets.

The Union Cabinet has approved a 135.87-km, four-lane access-controlled corridor on NH-15, connecting the Guwahati region with Tezpur at an estimated cost of ₹8,970.20 crore. The major infrastructure project is aimed at strengthening road connectivity across Assam while enabling faster and smoother movement of people, goods and commercial traffic between key parts of the state.

The corridor will feature five bypasses, major and minor bridges, flyovers and underpasses, designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in towns along the route. The upgraded connectivity is also expected to strengthen regional logistics, improve access to markets and support the movement of goods across Assam and the wider Northeast.

Beyond improving travel between Guwahati and Tezpur, the project represents a significant investment in Assam’s transport infrastructure. Better road connectivity can support businesses, trade and tourism while improving access to important economic centres and creating a more efficient network for regional movement.
